Organisational debt is the equivalent of technical debt, but for an organisation. Using the definition of technical debt on Wikipedia I propose the following definition for organisational debt: Organisational is a concept in management that reflects the implied human cost, in term of time, salary, frustration and burnout, of additional rework caused by choosing an easy (limited) solution now instead of using a better approach that would take longer. I used to feel overloaded first thing in the morning, simply by looking at all the numbered red dot showing over apps like: emails, slack, skype, calendar, paper stack (yes I’ve that too), and other. The tip I’ve used to cope, is to: remove the notifications (less reactive) do a review of all the apps regularly, but no more than 3 times per day. (Yes, you can read your email when you want, not being reactive) do the stuff that takes less than 2-5 minutes store things to do in a todo system (I use GTD) delete/archive the file Read more...
